he Thanksgiving Service celebrating the 180th anniversary of the foundation of HKSKH and the 25th anniversary of the inauguration of the Province was held in the afternoon of 23rd October at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. The Most Revd Andrew Chan, Primate of Hong Kong officiated at the service, and the Rt Revd Anthony Poggo, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion preached. Co-celebrating were the current and emeritus archbishops and bishops of HKSKH, overseas archbishops and bishops, clergy of HKSKH, as well as visiting clergy from overseas.

During the thanksgiving dinner for the 180th anniversary of the founding the HKSKH and the 25th anniversary of the inauguration of the Province, the Revd Tosin Oladipo, who attended as representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, awarded the Archbishop Emeritus Paul Kwong with the Cross of St Augustine for his outstanding leadership during his time as the Primate of Hong Kong and the Chair of the Anglican Consultative Council.

What does it mean to be a Christian in our post-pandemic world of economic and cultural unknowns? What unique missions do churches of various places now find themselves responsible for? What does it mean to be an East Asian Anglican Christian? A group of Anglican bishops from across East Asia gathered together in fellowship, seeking answers to these questions as they paid witness to the far-reaching and varied body of Christ.
It has been four years since the last meeting, and by the Lord’s grace, the Council of the Churches of East Asia (CCEA) held their Bishops’ Conference in Hong Kong from 19th to 22nd October this year.

Serenity is a precious gift. In the peaceful quietness of a monastery, we are invited to participate in the serenity of God. In it, we find not only God, but also his wishes for us and for our community of faith. But are such fruits exclusive to the monastic lifestyle, and are such treasures of spirituality locked away in the walls of monasteries, only to be accessible by the majority of people during brief retreats? How should we bring the spirit of monasticism into the busy cityscape of Hong Kong, that our urban-stressed souls can find a place of peaceful quietness, where we can hear the call of our Lord?
